Step 2: Designing a Water Filter
After researching how vital water is to one's survival and how scarce clean water is in Africa, students set out to design their own water filters. Using a 2 liter bottle, coffee filters, rocks, sand, cheese cloth, cotton balls, and wire screen....teams set out to make the most efficient and economically sound filter possible. Once they made their first filter they went back to the drawing board to make adjustments.
Eventually, a few of the teams were very successful!!! Let me say, this was not an easy task.....they had some very dirty water to filter.
